Boarding for Boys & Girls
Saint John’s Preparatory School girls and boys live in Saint Michael Hall, a dormitory adjacent to the Prep School.
The residence hall is fully equipped with all the comforts of home, including flat-screen TV’s, a community lounge, computers/internet access, washer/dryer, and kitchens. Within Saint Michael Hall, students can enjoy recreational space for indoor basketball, soccer, badminton, and volleyball. Thanks to a $5,450,000 renovation and construction project in 2020, our young men and women are under one roof, separated by a light-filled walkway and gourmet kitchen. The project created two separate living spaces within Saint Michael Hall, a young women’s village and a young men’s village. The new construction and updates include renovations for every student room, a massive gourmet kitchen, two new kitchenettes, new entertainment nooks and community rooms, new bathrooms and laundry facilities, a new multipurpose tech study space and security enhancements for the entryways. The construction also includes four new, two-bedroom apartments for staff and their families. Students may live in single or double rooms, depending on availability. New students should expect to have a roommate.
Long weekends take place four times each year: Fall Break in October, Thanksgiving Break in November, Spring Break in March, and Easter Break in March or April. During this time, students have the opportunity to stay in Saint Michael Hall, connect with a host family or travel on their own to explore the United States. Students have enjoyed trips to popular USA destinations in recent years, including San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angles, Chicago, New York, and Orlando! Boarding students also have the opportunity for numerous day, and some overnight, trips throughout the year, including professional sporting events, music concerts, skiing, camping, ethnic restaurants, professional theatre, and shopping.
Saint Michael Hall has full-time adult staff, living in the new two-bedroom apartments in the young men’s and young women’s villages. Our staff are college graduates and qualified professionals. They are experienced with young people and work collaboratively to create a respectful, healthy, and safe living community for our students.
